RenoLab business terms
For trades and suppliers. Version 1, 12 October 2026.
- Joining is free. There's no subscription and no charge for jobs you don't win.
- If you win work from a customer we introduced, you pay RenoLab 5% of what they pay you (3% for builders', plumbing and electrical merchants and DIY stores), including any more work for them in the next 12 months.
- You pay within 30 days of being paid, and you keep each job's status up to date using the link in the job email.
- You only use the customer's details for their job.
- Either of us can end this with 30 days' notice.
1. Who we are
RenoLab (renolab.co.uk) is run by Darren Kearney, a sole trader trading as RenoLab, in Northern Ireland ("RenoLab", "we", "us"). Contact: hello@renolab.co.uk. "You" means the business that joins RenoLab.
2. What RenoLab does
RenoLab helps homeowners price renovation work and, when they ask, introduces them to local businesses. We are an introducer only. We don't sell or carry out the work, we are not your agent, and we can't promise any number or value of jobs.
3. Joining
- Joining is free. We check each business before it receives jobs and may refuse, pause or remove any business at any time, for example after customer complaints or late reporting.
- The information you give us (business name, contact details, the work you do and the areas you cover) must be accurate, and you must tell us if it changes.
- You must hold the insurance (including public liability), qualifications and registrations that your work legally requires, and show us proof if we ask.
4. Jobs we send you
- Each job is sent to no more than 5 businesses that cover that area and type of work. Jobs are not exclusive.
- Please contact the customer within 2 working days, or mark the job as not for you.
- RenoLab prices are estimates shown to the customer as a guide. You set your own prices.
5. Referral fee
- You pay RenoLab a referral fee of 5% (or 3% if you joined as a builders', plumbing or electrical merchant or DIY store) of the gross value (including VAT) of all work and products you sell to a customer we introduced to you. If we agree a different rate or a cap with you in writing (email is fine), that applies instead. Your rate is shown in each job email. This includes any further work or products for that customer within 12 months of the introduction, however they contact you.
- A customer counts as introduced by us if we sent you their details through RenoLab, or if they show you a RenoLab discount code.
- The fee is due within 30 days of you receiving payment from the customer. For stage payments, the fee is due on each payment.
- We'll invoice you based on the outcomes you report. If RenoLab becomes VAT registered, VAT will be added to our fee.
- There is no fee for jobs you don't win, or for customers who don't go ahead.
- We may charge interest on late payments under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
6. Reporting and records
- Using the link in each job email, update each job when it changes (contacted, quoted, won or lost) within 7 days, and enter the sale value when you win it.
- Keep records of the work and sales for customers we introduced, and give us copies of the relevant invoices if we reasonably ask.
- We may ask customers whether they went ahead and who with. If a sale wasn't reported, the fee is still due and we may remove you from RenoLab.
7. Discount codes
If you agree to take part, customers may show you a personal RenoLab code. You'll honour the discount you agreed with us and record each sale on the RenoLab link we give you. The referral fee applies to those sales.
8. Customer information
- We share a customer's details with you only with their consent. You may use them only to contact that customer about their job.
- You must not share or sell them, or add them to marketing lists without the customer's separate consent.
- For the customer details we send you, you are a separate data controller and must comply with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). That includes keeping the details secure and deleting them when you no longer need them.
- Tell us promptly if a customer's details we sent you are lost or misused.
9. Your work and the customer
- Any contract for work or products is between you and the customer. You are fully responsible for your quotes, work, products, guarantees and any building regulations, gas, electrical or other approvals.
- Deal with customers honestly. Don't use misleading prices or pressure selling, and handle complaints promptly and fairly.
10. Liability
We provide introductions as they are and don't guarantee results. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses or loss of profit, and our total liability to you is limited to the referral fees you've paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited.
11. Ending this agreement
Either of us can end this agreement at any time by giving 30 days' notice by email. We may end it straight away if you break these terms. Fees for customers introduced before it ended are still due under section 5, including work within 12 months of their introduction.
12. Changes
We may update these terms by emailing you at least 30 days before the change. If you keep accepting jobs after that, you accept the new terms. Each version is dated at the top of this page.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland deal with any dispute.
