Homes in Ballymena, and what that means for your bathroom
- Designated a new town in 1967, planned to more than double in size, so many estates date from the late 1960s and 1970s.
Houses built quickly in the 1960s and 70s can have poor insulation, thin partition walls and dated wiring. Check the walls and floor when the old room is stripped, and consider insulating while the walls are open.
Newer houses are usually square and level, which keeps fitting quicker and cheaper.
